That's totally true Leon. And I'm personnaly ready for this.

I just wanted to make it clear because 64bit is difficult to really understand when you're not a geek. A lot of freelancer friends were looking to upgrade but they were not thinking that it would require them to upgrade from Windows XP 32bit.

are we going to keep improving our hardware without the software as well? it's long overdue that ae went 64bit. as for backwards plugin compatibility that sucks, but then things change no?

CS4 works fine on XP64 as ling as you install codecs, and particularly Quicktime before installation.
Otherwise AE is flaky, and Premiere and Media Encoder crash on loadup.

Hi CJ. CS4 is not "officially" supported on Windows XP 64, but yes it runs with very minor glitches. I had a debate with an Adobe official on some AE related site, and the answer was that memory management between XP and Vista was so different that they decided to drop XP. But it is still possible that AE64 will run like CS4 on WinXP 64. But it won't be officially supported, so if it doesn't work, you'll be on your own.
